Elementary & Secondary School Programs
Tutoring is available for Math, Science, English and French languages, Social Studies, Geography, and History. Tutors work with your child's teacher to provide individualized learning support through practice questions based on curriculum material, quizzes, tests and homework.
Additional session times for secondary students are available during daytime hours, when your child has a spare.
Online or In-Person Sessions:
Our tutors offer both online and in-person sessions. Families who have access to a computer and are able to download Zoom can connect with their tutor online in the comfort of their own home. In-person sessions take place at our office on 569 Catherine Street. Our location has a warm, welcoming environment with small rooms for students to work one on one with their tutor or larger open spaces for groups of students and their tutor.
Grade 9 Math Prep Week:
The jump between elementary and secondary math, while often daunting for many students, is a crucial point in their mathematical progression. The Grade 9 Math Prep Week introduces the opportunity to get prior experience working with and understanding the concepts taught in Grade 9 Math and allows students a sneak peek at what will be expected of them. This Grade 9 Math Prep week is a great opportunity for students to prepare for what will be the foundation of their high school math experience. This program is offered at the end of the summer based on demand. If you would like more information or to express your interest in enrolling, please email us.
Exam Sessions:
High school exam sessions are provided at the end of each semester by request, and are designed specifically for high school students who need guidance or strategies for final assessments. These sessions are tailored to teach studying strategies, organization, and summarization of notes as well as the chance to work through course review. Exam sessions are group sessions scheduled by The Learning Academy prior to exam week. Practice exams will be provided.
Literacy Test Prep:
All Ontario high school students are required to successfully complete the Ontario Literacy Test in order to receive their OSSD. We offer sessions that focus on grammar, reading, writing and comprehension in order to prepare students for the literacy test. Using examples from previous tests, students become familiar with the format and learn how to properly approach a series of multiple choice questions.
