WHAT KIND OF TUTORING DO YOU OFFER?
Our programs are catered to your child’s needs. We offer sessions in every subject and for every grade. We have private, semi private as well as group homework sessions. Your child not only gains confidence in a group setting, but makes new friends!
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO YOUR TUTORS HAVE?
Our tutors possess Bachelor of Education Degrees, Masters Degrees and ESL certification and follow the Ontario Curriculum documents.
DO THE TUTORS WORK WITH MY CHILD'S TEACHER?
Yes! Collaboration with your child’s teacher plays a key role in the success of his or her learning program. With your permission, our tutors communicate on a regular basis to discuss progress and strategies with your child’s teacher. Due to confidentiality, our tutors cannot directly speak to your child’s teacher unless they have been given your permission.
HOW MUCH DOES TUTORING COST?
Our pricing varies by program. Private, one on one sessions are $35-$40 per hour. We also offer semi-private sessions for two students or group sessions which include students in similar grade levels or abilities.
HOW OFTEN DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND?
Two or three sessions per week are recommended to ensure your child is prepared for classroom activities, to boost their confidence and to see progress! We know that schedules can be busy with after school activities, so we do our best to offer programs throughout the week.
FOR HOW LONG DOES MY CHILD NEED TO ATTEND?
We recommend that your child stays with us for the duration of the school year. If we see that your child is advancing and may not need to be tutored as often, we may suggest a reduced schedule. However, extra practice never hurts!
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We require 24 hours notice if your child is unable to attend his or her session with valid reason. If you do not give sufficient notice, you will be charged for any sessions missed. The Learning Academy agrees to refund or reschedule up to 2 cancelled sessions per term, when notice of cancellation is given 24 hours in advance. Please contact us at 519.386.4132 as soon as you know that your child will not be attending his or her next visit.
DOES TUTORING RUN ON SNOW DAYS?
Tutoring is cancelled if buses are not running. We want all of our students to stay safe at home! We also do not run tutoring sessions on PD days, early dismissal days or holidays.
WHERE DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Our sessions take place at our office, 569 Catherine Street in Port Elgin or a mutually agreed upon space with your child’s tutor. We have recently started offering online tutoring sessions, where your child connects with a tutor through Zoom.
HOW WILL I BE BILLED? HOW DO I PAY?
Sessions are prepaid on a term basis (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). You will receive an invoice which can be paid through e-transfer, cash or cheque. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. The Learning Academy agrees to refund or reschedule up to 2 cancelled sessions per term, when notice of cancellation is given 24 hours in advance. No additional sessions will be refunded or rescheduled unless extenuating circumstances apply.
